I’m Dave Rosenberger and I am a candidate for a seat on the Yorba Linda Water District Board. I’d like to tell you why I’m running for a position of the board; who I am, what I stand for and what I feel I can offer the citizens of Yorba Linda.

One of the biggest political issues in California is and always has been water. In Southern California, we are after all, living in what might be desert were it not for our water resources. Without careful planning the desert may yet reclaim us.

Twenty years ago, I had the opportunity to tour the Metropolitan water system and even then we knew what problems were facing us. Someone once said, “Buy land, they’re not making it anymore.” Yes, we still get renewable resources, but as long as we are at the mercy of the weather, those resources are in jeopardy and may become severely limited in time. Telling us to conserve now may be too little, too late. It is time for change and I want to be part of the solution!

I believe it is time to bring new blood and fresh ideas to the Water District. I don’t think a public office should be a lifetime career. If you are not seeing dynamic changes and fresh ideas, it is time for change.

I want to bring attention to new and innovative conservation ideas; Desalinization may be the answer to our long term future and we need to think about it now, not when the crisis hits the point of no return.

My plan is to get the people of Yorba Linda involved; ensure they understand the needs of today and the needs of the future. I would look at what innovation is taking place in other areas; look to explore what best suits our community. Most importantly, I want to keep the public informed.
