I am a lifelong resident of Orange County. I have been blessed with a wonderful wife and partner, Kathy, for twenty eight years and have two great kids, Jennifer and Jonathan, whose future is of paramount interest to me. I graduated from California State University Fullerton with a degree in Communications and have held the position of District Sales Manager with Webb Service Company for eighteen years. For the last thirty years, I have also been a teacher with the North Orange County Community College, teaching two to three nights a week at various district locations. I have worked all my life at occupations that require listening and negotiating. I believe those skills will serve this position well. I am a focused and committed person, dedicated to finishing what I start and doing so with integrity and quality.
This is my first foray into an elected position, but I have participated in many community oriented organizations over the years. I served as the president of my Homeowner’s Association for 5 years. I have served on numerous committees. Coached softball, soccer, and led cub scout troops. I am very involved in my church and frequently volunteer my time there along with many other charity projects. As part of my teaching program, I have been planning and organizing trips for my students for almost twenty years. These trips require organization, budgeting, forecasting and strong people skills, not to mention anticipating potential problems and changes to an itinerary at the drop of a hat.
So what to I believe in? I believe in public service for the public good. Full disclosure of all public services is imperative. The business of the Water District is, as with all public organizations, the business of the people of Yorba Linda. I believe we have to look to the future, while taking care of the present. I believe it is time for change. I deeply believe in giving back to the country and community that has given my family so much.
Change is a word we hear a lot these days and it applies to local issues as well as national. Our world is changing and evolving faster than ever and we can no longer let the status quo stand. If we don’t plan for the future, our children, our future generations will have insurmountable problems.
